Businesses can now have accounts that are different from the accounts of us mortals, by adding a bit of extra spice to their profile.

The announcement was published on Instagram’s blog, which informs us that with the updated profiles, brands will be instantly recognised as businesses. Moreover, they will be able to get insights about followers and posts, and promote posts, all straight from the Instagram mobile app.

The updates will give users the opportunity to get more info about the companies and brands they’re interested in, such as addresses and contact details, while businesses will get valuable insights on their demographics, and how their content performs against their benchmark KPIs. So far, Instagram Insights include the following metrics:

  • Impressions: Total number of times your post was seen
  • Reach: Number of unique accounts who saw your post
  • Website Clicks: Number of accounts that have tapped the website link on your Business Profile
  • Follower Activity: Average times your followers are on Instagram on a typical day

To set up your business profile, you will need to connect your Facebook page, via the settings options. To promote your posts, all you will have to do is click on the Promote button which is located just under your photo after making sure that the post abides by Facebook’s guidelines. That’s it, you’re good to go.

The updated Business profiles are rolling out gradually across the globe, and are expected to be broadly available very soon. Check out the video below for a sneak peek.
